Joining seven other major steel trade associations from different continents, EUROFER submits comments to the Chinese government on the current Chinese government Iron and Steel Industry Development Plan

For the first time ever 8 major steel associations covering three continents are acting together to voice concerns regarding the state-sponsored support for China’s steel industry. Eurofer joins with the association of the steel industries of Canada, the United States and Central and South America in making a submission as regards China’s Steel Industry Development Plan.

"This intercontinental initiative reflects the global dimension of the issue as China continues to direct and protect its steel industry operations and exports, disrupting and distorting major steel markets throughout the world", states Gordon Moffat, Eurofer Director General.

Referring to EUROFER’s recent study on China Steel Industry Policy, Gordon Moffat, stresses that "China must stop state support for its steel industry."
